“My advice to any ILR student is to get some workplace experience you can apply to whatever you are learning in the classroom.”

— Professor Lowell Turner

What will you do with your life? Whether you expect to identify and prepare for the career that becomes your passion while a student at ILR, whether you're edging closer to graduation and still feel confused about your options, or whether you decide later in life to re-evaluate and re-tool your skills, ILR offers a range of services that can help you reach your goals.

Office of Career Services

ILR undergrads gather for career advising

The Office of Career Services is one of ILR's most vital resources. Here, career advisers work closely with undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni alike as they explore career interests, options, and opportunities — from internships to jobs to further studies. The office brings prospective employers to campus, maintains ties with Cornell Career Services, and interacts with faculty and the broader ILR community. The Office of Career Services is dedicated to your success.

Hands-on experience during your undergraduate years is a valued commodity. ILR has created the Credit Internship Program to encourage you to pursue internships related to your studies in the private or public sector, in the U.S. or overseas. Earn credit while you're at it.

Recruiting & Employer Relations

ILR's annual Career Fair brings employers to campus

ILR educates students to be analytic, resourceful, and inspired leaders in the world of work. Employers want to hire thoughtful, creative, and motivated students who will add value to their organizations. That's why they come to ILR. The Office of Career Services/Employers helps companies, non-profits, labor unions, and government get their names in front of students by inviting employers to recruit and interview on campus, jointly sponsoring events, posting opportunities, and arranging internships. We value our relationship with employers.

Mentoring

As many successful ILR alumni know, having a mentor who advised and guided you was an invaluable asset. Here is your chance to offer similar assistance to current students. The Office of Career Services actively encourages alumni mentoring through its Career Contact Network, which includes profiles of ILR alumni. Don't miss out on this rewarding opportunity.
