Union Leadership Institute
July 10 2005
Cornell's AFL-CIO Union Leadership Institute is holding its annual week long program in Ithaca July 10-16. Two groups come together for this event: the graduating class who began two summers ago with the Institute, and the new incoming class. The Institute focuses on developing committed, proactive, and effective leaders who can meet the challenging issues confronting New York's labor movement. This selective program combines seminars, fieldwork, and mentoring and carries 12 college credits. Institute applicants must be current or emerging union leaders (i.e., elected or appointed officers, activist members, or staff), nominated and sponsored by their unions or central labor bodies, and prepared to make a commitment to the program. This intensive week-long event is led by both Cornell labor faculty and well-known labor leaders from around the state.
