MTP
Nearly 16,284 students in the Model Transition Project were entered within the Transition Impact Data (TID) online data base during the year 2008-09. Nearly 63.03% were males and 36.97% females; 71.51% were Caucasian, 16.11% were African Americans, 7.51% Hispanic/Latino, and 4.87% Others. Most were in the 11th and 12th grades (37.08% and 21.05% respectively) and about 13.84% were in 10th grade. Also, many sites across the state enrolled students in lower grades, i.e., <= 9th grade (11.75% of total) to “jump-start” their engagement in transition planning. Nearly 46.68% were expecting to receive Regents diploma, 24.28% the IEP diploma and 23.08% the local diploma. Students with Learning Disability were the largest group of students with disabilities (47.70%) followed 16.82% of students with Physical Disability (includes ‘Orthopedic impairment,’ ‘Traumatic brain injury,’ and ‘Other health impairment’), 12.19% of students with Emotional Disability, and 8.74% of students with Autism and MR. More than one third of students in the MTP project indicated to be receiving free or reduced price lunch, and 22.21% received some form of public support. Following charts represents the proportion of students participating in career development activities and work experiences (paid/unpaid), receiving MTP partner provider services, and referred to VESID from June 30, 2008 through Jul 15, 2009.
