NYS Siblings Needs Assessment
Adult siblings of individuals with developmental disabilities determine their own pathways in relation to balancing their adult lives and interactions with their sibling. Some adult siblings find they need information, resources or assistance. This New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC) sponsored project will survey (1) the current level of supports and services offered to siblings in NYS by the OPWDD-funded service delivery system and (2) the current state and needs of adult siblings regarding knowledge, training needs and care capacity for their sibling with developmental disabilities.
At the conclusion of these studies a report addressing identified regional sibling needs with recommendations and a logic model for implementation will be created.
