The Citizen-Centered Leadership Development Community of Practice series is a unique combination of self-paced distance learning study, robust field work, interactive class assignments and live webcast instruction designed to advance theoretic and skill-based learning leading to quality outcomes in the lives of people with disabilities.
Through the use of PowerPoint, lecture and written materials, participants will gain additional information that will assist any SSI beneficiary who wishes to return to work at any level of activity. Proper planning and information is critical to this effort and participants will gain the knowledge necessary to help ease this transition. Online polling will be used to test participant knowledge and utilization of the various provisions. A preparatory reading assignment will be provided and is required.

Workforce Policy & Labor Relations has partnered with the Employment and Disability Institute at Cornell to create a new program for Cornell managers: Leading in a Disability Inclusive Workforce. This webinar will provide an overview of the 2012-13 National Governors Association (NGA)Chair's initiative, "A Better Bottom Line: Employing People with Disabilities." The initiative is focused on how states can assist business in hiring and retaining individuals with disabilities. Topics will include the role of the National Governors Association Chairperson, an outline of the vision of Delaware Governor Markell's current initiative, efforts NGA has undertaken so far, and events planned for the future.
