This interactive session for employees of the Hotel School will include information about disability etiquette, changing views about disability in America, an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and obligations relevant to the hospitality industry under this law. Participants will have an opportunity to consider how they can improve the experiences of hotel guests with disabilities.
Over the last five years, there have been significant changes in the landscape of disability inclusiveness in the workplace. What do municipal government employers need to do to ensure that they are not only in compliance with new laws and policies, but also ensure that they have a workplace where everyone can contribute to the full extent of their talents. During this session, we will co-explore key situations and dilemmas around disability in the workplace. This will include hiring, disclosure, accommodation, retention, inclusion, disability inquiry and other issues. Also, we will focus on issues related to collecting medical information and disability inquiry. The interactive session will include film clip discussion, presentations, case studies and scenario analysis.
