OPWDD Benefits Planning and Work Incentives Webinar Series: The Plan For Achieving Self Support (PASS)- An Overview
The PASS is a powerful work incentive that allows SSI recipients to exclude income and/or resources that would otherwise be counted in determining SSI eligibility. If used for approved goods or services, the money set aside in a PASS will not be counted by the SSI program. This then allows the individual to become eligible for SSI, retain SSI eligibility, or become eligible for a larger SSI check.
This webinar will cover the following topics on the Plan for Achieving Self Support:
- What is a PASS?
- Examples of how a PASS can benefit an individual with a disability
- Criteria for PASS approval
- The Criteria for increasing the prospect for self support
- The feasible work goal
- Savings and expenditures
- Time limits
- Amendments to the Pass
- Suspension and Termination of a PASS
