This is a CLOSED session only for participants in Rutgers University’s Professional Skills in Job Development Certificate Program. This session will consider the ethical concerns and dilemmas faced by job developers in their daily work. Guidance for handling these situations will be provided within the context of existing, relevant codes of ethics from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counseling Certification (CRCC) Code of Professional Ethics for Rehabilitation Counselors and the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice; we will examine how the APSE Ethical Guidelines mesh with these Codes. Further, we will review the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements related to disability disclosure, a potential dilemma, at all stages of the job search process. Through case scenarios, participants will have a chance to put this information into practice, enhancing the likelihood that they will effectively apply this knowledge to future ethical challenges.
Through this training the audience will understand the special education process, including how the ADA applies to it.
