This interactive session will provide an overview of the ADA and ADA AA as they pertain to the hiring and employment of individuals with disabilities. Human and practical considerations, including current workforce trends will also be discussed. Finally, we will consider the value of universal design principles in attracting and retaining employees with disabilities.

This cornerstone session discusses the challenge of promoting authentic community inclusion with individuals with disabilities within traditional organizational design structures and advocates a shift of paradigm using the lenses of citizenship and leadership development.

This session lays the foundation upon which community inclusion and meaningful citizenship contribution are built. It will include a brief review of civil and disabilities rights movements that have had powerful impact on contemporary society and explore in greater detail the importance of understanding how valued social roles are translated into citizenship.

This session explores the fundamental intention behind person-centered planning and articulates the distinction between theory, practice and formal planning. Characteristics of organizations that successfully support person-centered processes will be reviewed as well as a look at the ethics behind good practice.
