Introduction SSA implements several protections or safety nets to further support the return to work of SSI beneficiaries beyond IRWE, PASS and BWE. Individuals whose earnings exceed the break even point for receiving cash benefits retain their eligibility for SSI and Medicaid under the 1619(b) as long as their earnings do not exceed certain state thresholds and they meet specific eligibility criteria. Further, individuals who receive SSI and meet certain criteria are provided special protections from Continuing Disability Reviews as well as Expedited Reinstatement of Benefits should their attempts at work prove unsuccessful.

Special Features Through the use of PowerPoint, lecture and written materials, participants will gain additional information that will assist any SSI beneficiary who wishes to return to work at any level of activity. Proper planning and information is critical to this effort and participants will gain the knowledge necessary to help ease this transition. Online polling will be used to test participant knowledge and utilization of the 1619(b) provision. A preparatory reading assignment will be provided and is required.
Who Will Benefit Social workers, advocates, attorneys, rehabilitation workers and job placement personnel will gain special knowledge to assist their consumers in planning and executing a return to work effort. Learn the answers to the questions involved with return to work for SSDI beneficiaries.
