Introduction The SSA has implemented many work incentive programs that will assist beneficiaries of cash and health benefits in making a successful transition to work. These work incentive programs can be of significant benefit to any beneficiary who wishes to attempt a return to the work force. Learn how each program works and interacts with each other, how to trouble shoot during the return to work process and help debunk the “urban legends” surrounding a beneficiary’s return to work.
Key Topics
  • The Trial Work Period (TWP)
  • Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) Determination
  • Income Averaging
  • Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE) and Grace Period
  • Subsidies and Special Conditions
  • Impairment-Related Work Expenses (IRWE)
Special Features Through the use of PowerPoint, lecture and written materials, participants will gain highly specialized information that will assist any SSDI beneficiary who wishes to return to work at any level of activity. Proper planning and information is critical to this effort and participants will gain the knowledge necessary to help ease this transition. Online polling will be used to test participant knowledge of work incentives utilization. A preparatory reading assignment will be provided and is required.
Who Will Benefit Social workers, advocates, attorneys, rehabilitation workers and job placement personnel will gain special knowledge to assist their consumers in planning and executing a return to work effort. Learn the answers to the first questions involved with any return to work.
