Introduction The lack of suitable, affordable housing is often a major barrier to successful employment of persons with disabilities. Still, various public and subsidized housing programs can sometimes help to overcome this barrier. This course will provide a brief summary of the major federally-sponsored programs that should be available in all states, with an emphasis on those policies most applicable to persons with disabilities. State-subsidized housing programs also exist and may offer additional benefits, although they are not covered in this course.

Special Features This informational seminar provides basic information pertaining to federally-subsidized housing using lecture, PowerPoint and opportunity for question and answer. A preparatory reading assignment will be provided and is required.
Who Will Benefit Any individual who is responsible for assisting a beneficiary in maneuvering the complexity of federal entitlements when returning to work will benefit from this program. This includes attorneys, advocates, social workers, case managers, rehabilitation workers and job placement personnel.
