Research
DBTAC-Northeast is currently conducting research to address a number of disability related issues. These disability related issues include, but are not limited to, society’s attitudes towards people with disabilities, society’s behavior towards people with disabilities, and barriers that influence society’s view of people with disabilities.
Through our training efforts and by collecting information on the experiences of individuals with disabilities, and how individuals with disabilities interact with society and the environment, we hope to provide new insight into each of these issues. As a National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) funded entity, our research efforts are focused on "generating new knowledge and promote its effective use to improve the abilities of people with disabilities to perform activities of their choice in the community, and also to expand society's capacity to provide full opportunities and accommodations for its citizens with disabilities."
Using the information we gather from our research, our goal is to provide the most effective, relevant services and interventions to meet the needs of the individuals and community we serve.
