Bobby is a web-based tool that analyzes web pages for their accessibility to people with disabilities using the guideline of the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Sites approved by Bobby are entitled to display a "Bobby approved" icon on their page.

From the Office of Governmentwide Policy, this web site provides information on CITA services and activities, current projects, legislation and policy, assistive technology resources for hearing impaired and deaf persons, as well as a link to assistive technology providers.

Federal Communications Commission Disabilities Issues Task Force http://www.fcc.gov/dtf/
This FCC page includes information on telecommunication issues as they relate to disabilities. Topics include closed captioning and video descriptions, web site accessibility, hearing aid compatibility, telephone relay services, and more.

Job Accommodation Network (JAN) http://janweb.icdi.wvu.edu
JAN is a service of the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. The web site includes links to their publications, with many useful accommodation ideas.

The Lighthouse, Inc. http://www.lighthouse.org/
An international resource for the visually impaired, this site provides information on vision impairment and rehabilitation. Products, publications, a calendar of events, and organization information are all available from this site. In addition there is an extensive listing of online resources for the visually impaired.

National Federation of the Blind http://www.nfb.org
The NFB serves as an information and referral service for the blind providing information on scholarships, literature and publications about blindness, aids and appliances, other adaptive equipment for the blind, and advocacy services. The web site provides links to computer resources, low vision and research resource lists, as well as the International Braille Technology Center. The site also offers guidelines for web page accessibility.

The center's web page is an outgrowth of its Demonstration Center, based at Georgia Southern University. It offers photos and descriptions of common assistive devices.

Trace Research and Development Center http://trace.wisc.edu/
Housed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and funded in part through the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, Trace is a research, development, and resource center focusing on access to computers by people with disabilities. Over the last several years, the Trace Center has also become involved in disability access and universal design of the World Wide Web, information transaction machines, and telecommunications. Their web site provides information on computers and software, and telecommunications. Information on universal design tools is also provided.

Virtual Assistive Technology Center http://www.at-center.com/
At this site you can find free and inexpensive software helping individuals with disabilities use computers. Software is available for Windows, Mac, and DOS operating systems.

Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) http://www.w3.org/WAI/
The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) pursues accessibility of the Web through five primary areas of work: technology, guidelines, tools, education and outreach, and research and development. The site provides links to resources on web accessibility, tools and guidelines for accessibility, as well as general information on the WAI.
