Registering with Irish Immigration
All U.S. citizens planning to stay in Ireland longer than ninety (90) days, (all ILR/UCD Semester in Dublin participants) must register with the Irish Department of Justice. Within a few days of arriving in Dublin, students must visit the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) at 13-14 Burgh Quay with the following information:
- Valid, signed passport
- Letter from ILR attesting that you are a Cornell University student and that all of your tuition fees have been paid to UCD
- Statement of sufficient funds to support you during your stay in Ireland (bank statement, credit cards, ATM cards, etc.)
- Current UCD student card
- Letter from the Student Desk in the Tierney Building at UCD. Ask for the letter for immigration. This letter will indicate your student status, start date and duration of course at UCD.
- Receipt of fees paid from the Fees & Grants Office in the Tierney Building.
Registration with the Garda will cost 150 Euros. You will need a credit/debit card. The Garda will not accept cash or check.
International students must also have any required visas.
