Academic Preparation of Interns

The curriculum of the ILR School is highly structured for the first two years, with ample opportunity for elective coursework in the junior and senior years. Interns can therefore be expected to have completed most of the courses listed below and one or two electives relevant to the internship assignment:

  • Freshman Seminar (two semesters; emphasizes writing)

  • Cultural perspectives
  • Science and Technology
  • Micro and Macro Economics (two semesters)
  • History of Industrial and Labor Relations in the United States
  • Organizational Behavior and Analysis
  • Statistics (includes computer instruction)
  • Human Resource Management
  • Labor & Employment Law
  • Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining
  • Economics of Wages and Employment
  • International & Comparative Labor
