Student Conduct & Liability

While abroad, students are subject to all of the laws of their host countries.  Moreover, Cornell students bear responsibility to the Cornell University Code of Conduct while studying abroad because they remain registered at the ILR School and Cornell throughout their semester abroad.

Students need to be aware that violation of the laws of their host country will make them liable to legal proceedings within judicial systems that may be very different from those of the United States. No international internship student should contemplate the distribution or use of illegal drugs, the penalties for which may be extremely strict.

Any student who violates either the Cornell University code of conduct or the laws of their host country risks being sent home before the end of the semester.
