Richard Galati is a 2006 graduate with honors of the ILR School. While at Cornell, Richard took several courses and performed research with the Institute on Conflict Resolution, culminating in his senior honors thesis on Online Dispute Resolution.
He is currently entering his second year at Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago and this past summer was a extern for United States Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Cole of the Northern District of Illinois.
Richard was part of the first crop of ILR students and recent alums to take advantage of the new Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution when he completed The Employment Law Mediator Program in March 2007 through ILRs extension center in New York City.
He is currently putting much of the skills learned in the programs simulations and lectures to use while participating in the Program on Negotiation and Mediation at Northwestern Law. The 40-hour course that he took through the institute mirrors a course offered by the Chicago-based Center for Conflict Resolution.
As a third year student he will have the opportunity to put the skills and experience gained though the Scheinman Institute to use by volunteering as a member of the CCRs pro bono mediation panel in which he will gain further training as a neutral while providing Chicago residents with a pro bono way to resolve their disputes.
