Background and Previous Experience

Kyoung-Hee Yu is a Senior Lecturer in the Management department at the UNSW Business School in Sydney, Australia. She holds editorial and/or advisory board memberships in Organization Studies, the Journal of Industrial Relations, and the Korean Journal of Industrial Relations.

Yu has a Ph.D. in Management from the Institute of Work and Employment Research at MIT Sloan where she conducted dissertation research on organizational change in the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and on the participation of immigrant workers in the union. Prior to her Ph.D., Yu worked at the ILO on the Multidisciplinary Team based in Bangkok, Thailand, and at the Korea Labor Institute. Yu’s research interests include organizational responses to social justice pressures and changes in workforce demographics, particularly as a result of immigration.

Current Research at ILR

While at ILR, Yu will be working on a Routledge handbook chapter on the influence of the state on HRM in Asian countries (including the Middle East). With colleagues in Australia, she is also writing two grant proposals--one on the emergence of a market for social impact investment in Australia and the other on immigrant workers in the construction industry in Australia.
