CAHRS Fall Partner Meeting
Driving Growth while Managing Enterprise-Wide Risk:
HR’s Role in the New Economic and Regulatory Environment

November 11-12, 2009 - Ithaca, NY (Statler Hotel)

As the world begins to emerge from recession, companies and their leaders are turning their thoughts to growth. Meanwhile, companies face a more stringent regulatory environment and significantly more shareholder scrutiny, because of the risks certain companies took to achieve growth. Over the last decade, such companies have increasingly made headlines due to scandals, lawsuits, performance issues, failed mergers and acquisitions, product launch flops, or other forms of risk ascribed to employee behavior or human resource practices.

Managing these risks in today's business environment is now a high priority for leaders. Companies are facing greater regulatory pressures from the Federal government, more exposure as part of running global businesses, and closer media scrutiny in the wake of the recent financial meltdown. Against this backdrop, the HR function is poised to play a larger role in managing enterprise-wide risk while simultaneously driving growth, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit.

The fall 2009 CAHRS partner meeting will focus on how HR's role is changing to encompass managing enterprise risk, what top organizations are doing to help HR better understand and manage it, and how to manage risk without compromising the actions and attitudes required to pursue growth. Topics will include managing risk in global growth, M&A activity, and innovation and organic growth, as well as discussions on managing risk at the top of the organization and the role of executive pay.

Our keynote speakers will be Laurie Siegel - SVP, HR and Internal Communications for Tyco International and J. Randall MacDonald - SVP, HR for IBM.
