Best Practices Forum: "Positioning HR for the coming recovery"
| This meeting is free of charge to CAHRS partner firms, but participation is limited to no more than twenty (20) attendees. To attend, please RSVP to Jo Hagin, or call 607-255-9358 for more information. |
The next meeting in our HR for HR working group series will be hosted on October 22, 2009 by Anne-Marie Law, Vice President, Human Resources at McKesson Corporation headquarters in San Francisco, CA. In this meeting, we will discuss the changes made within our client organizations, and within HR, to weather the deep and prolonged economic recession. How well are we positioned to participate in the recovery? Will HR find itself an enabler or a constraint to renewed growth? What can we do now to be ready for the turnaround? What are you already doing? What's working? What's not? What can we learn from each other?
To set the stage for our discussions, a few companies will be asked to prepare presentations about their practices. However, a significant portion of the meeting will be dedicated to lively interaction among professionals tasked with developing HR functional excellence.
Participants will be added to our resource list of HR for HR representatives, and will receive copies of presentations and a summary of the day prepared by the faculty facilitators.
About this Working Group
Cornell CAHRS has launched a series of small group discussions focused on specific aspects of the human resources talent pipeline. Central to that theme are the HR for HR working groups led by Professor Brad Bell and John Haggerty, Managing Director, ILR Executive Education. Participants in the HR for HR working groups share an organizational responsibility for the development of their HR colleagues. For some this is a full time job, for others it is part of a broader set of HR responsibilities.
The prior meetings in this series have made it clear that doing HR for HR is both a demanding and rewarding role--filled with unique challenges. To meet those challenges, CAHRS facilitates and accelerates HR development at partner companies by discussing plans and sharing best practices in small group sessions.
