William Carroll and his wife Emma Jane thoroughly enjoyed a 101 day 'round-the-world cruise this past winter 2001 in the company of long-time friends. The days at sea are always pleasurable for them, and port highlights included a visit to the Marquesas Islands, a couple of days in Cambodia, and return visits to Dubai, Oman, and New Guinea. For the past seven summers, they have taken their grandchildren traveling with them, from 2-5 at a time, depending on who is free of other commitments and can go. This has got to be one of life's most rewarding experiences for William and his wife. Their grandchildren range in age from 8-21. August 2001

Among notable Cornellians visiting the outer reaches we find ILRie Harriet Oxman, who visited Asia during July 2004. Her trip included China, Mongolia, and Siberia. It seems clear that Harriet took Pres Lehman’s vision of broadening Cornell presence in Asia to heart. Most recently (11/17/05) she returned from a trip to Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia. . .AND she is off again on Friday, 3 March 06, for Bhutan for two weeks. She has been to Nepal and India but somehow missed Bhutan on that trip a few years ago. She'll be back home in Sarasota FL by late March. November 2005
