ALLEN Z. SUSSMAN '85 JOINS LOEB & LOEB’s LOS ANGELES OFFICE AS A PARTNER Allen Z. Sussman has joined the Los Angeles office of law firm Loeb & Loeb LLP as a partner in the Capital Markets and Corporate Practice Groups. He was previously a partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice at Reed Smith LLP in Los Angeles. Mr. Sussman focuses his practice on corporate and securities transactions and counseling for clients ranging from newly formed startup teams to mature public companies in a variety of industries, including healthcare, entertainment, technology and banking. He also represents private equity investors and activist shareholders in acquisition transactions and control contests. Mr. Sussman has a wide range of expertise in public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and SEC compliance, venture capital and private equity transactions, and banking and financial services matters. Prior to private practice, Mr. Sussman served as an attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. and the Office of Thrift Supervision, Department of the Treasury. Mr. Sussman earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where he was Editor of the Annual Review of Banking Law, and his B.S. from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Mr. Sussman has been named a Best Lawyer in America in the field of Corporate Law for the past six years and has been ranked within the top 100 IPO lawyers nationwide by the IPO Lawyer Yearbook. Steven Bernstein '87, Tampa, FL, was selected by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce to serve on the organization’s Executive Committee as Legal Counsel. In the volunteer position, Bernstein will counsel the Chamber’s leadership on legal matters and regulations, and ensure compliance with the organization’s bylaws. As a member of the Executive Committee, he will oversee Chamber activities, determine strategic priorities, and provide guidance to the growing organization. Bernstein is a partner in the Tampa office of Fisher & Phillips LLP, a national labor and employment law firm. Actively involved in the community, he is a member of Board of Fellows at The University of Tampa, Center for Autism-Related Disabilities and Academy of Florida Management Attorneys. He previously served on the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and as chair of the 2012 Benchmarking Visit to Baltimore. December 2012
