Luke Barefoot spent his summer doing research for the United Steelworkers organizing department in Pittsburgh. This fall he began studies at Stanford's Law School in Palo Alto, CA.   September 2001

David Carlucci was elected in November 2005 to the Office of Clarkstown Town Clerk, the youngest person to have held this office in the history of Clarkstown, New York. David accomplished this by beating an incumbent who held the office for 28 years. He has also been recently appointed to the position of Marriage Officer and would welcome any Cornell Alumni who wish to have their marriage officiated by a fellow alumnae, provided they come visit him in Clarkstown. Pearl Ann E. Hendrix graduated from Rutgers-Camden School of Law in May 2005 and will be serving as the law clerk for the Honorable Walter Barisonek, an assignment judge, at the Superior Court of New Jersey, Elizabeth, NJ.   May 2005

Pearl Hendrix is a second year law school student at Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, NJ. Her husband Charles Jerdonek '02 is a chemical engineer at Cordis, a Johnson & Johnson company. He will be beginning his masters degree also at Rutgers in January 2004. His degree will be in chemical and biological engineering.   April 2004

Brian Herman

Brian Herman '02, Atlanta, GA, is a recipient of the 2007 Burton Award for Legal Writing. The award is given to recognize effective legal writing, honoring law firm partners and other attorneys who use plain, clear, and concise language, avoiding stilted legalese. The Atlanta attorney co-wrote an article that was one of only 30 honored. The awards are granted to attorneys from the nation’s 1000 largest law firms. Herman is being honored with co-author and firm Partner Robert W. Ashmore for their article "Managing the Risk of Employee Blogging," published by Risk Management magazine. Winners are selected by a panel of law school professors representing Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan, as well as leading legal professionals and members of the judiciary. Herman practices exclusively in the area of labor and employment law, representing management in employment litigation, union campaigns, and contract administration, including labor arbitration and unfair labor practice charges. Prior to joining the firm, he interned with the National Labor Relations Board Region 10 in Atlanta. He also interned with the Labor Relations Department of New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority.    May 2007

In Memoriam Lisa Moynihan PhD '02, passed away on October 7, 2007 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Lisa was a terrific scholar and a beloved graduate student. While in ILR, she bridged the human resources, international relations, and organizational behavior worlds as an intellectual and organizational leader. After receiving her PhD from ILR, Lisa accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at the London Business School.   November 2007

David and Paula Barnicle of Fitchburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Christen Barnicle, to Stephen Schiavo, son of Bob and Fran Schiavo of Northport, N.Y. The bride-to-be is a 2000 graduate of Boston University earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology and a 2003 graduate of Boston University earning a master's degree in reading education. She is a first-grade teacher at the Mary E. Finn Elementary School, Southborough Public Schools, Southborough. Her fiancé is a 2000 graduate of Boston University earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy and a 2002 graduate of Cornell University, earning a master's degree in industrial labor relations. In Memoriam Jeffrey Sharpton, a loved member of the inaugural class of the MPS Program in New York City, was recently killed in a car accident.   May 2003


John (MILR '03) and Bethany Edwards had a child, Jacob Edwards, last December. They both currently live in Atlanta, where John works at GE Energy as a Human Resource Manager.   February 2006

Brian Hayes '04, graduated with his masters in international employment relations and human resource management from the London School of Economics. He has since joined Chevron Corporations's HR Development Program. He has completed three six-month assignments and will be in Cape Town, South Africa for his fourth. Brian is also involved in the Keith B. Hayes Foundation in honor and memory of his younger brother. The Foundation will provide scholarships to disabled young adults for financial education assistance and other endeavours.   February 2008


Seth Hines started working for Intel in Hillsboro, OR. He has a position working in Human Resources.   February 2006


Gerry Cerand's three children, Paige '07, Tanner '04, and Lauren '01 are all now working in New York City. Paige is in the buyer program at Saks Fifth Avenue. Tanner is an investment banker with UBS. Lauren has her own PR firm in the publishing area.   November 2007

Gustavo Morles '07, Basking Ridge, NJ, recently joined Verizon, the largest telecommunication company in the US., in a management position in the Labor Relations department.   June 2007
