2008 Groat & Alpern Award Celebration

ILR's annual celebration of the School and its network of dedicated alumni and friends took place on March 27th at the Grand Hyatt in NYC. The theme was definitely family - the awardees all credited  family members with shaping their values and influencing their personal and professional lives.  The ILR family theme was also an overarching message. Over 500 alumni and close friends of the School, including 86 recent alumni,  turned out to celebrate ILR and  the great ILR network .  The 2008  honorees, recognized for  their contributions to the world of work and their dedication to the School, included Mark Brossman '75, Robert Molofsky '72, and Ruben King-Shaw, Jr '83.

The Judge William B. Groat Award recipients were, Brossman, Partner, Schulte Roth & Zabel, and Molofsky, Vice-President/Special Counsel, AFL-CIO Investment Trust Corporation.  King-Shaw, Chairman and CEO, Mansa Equity Partners, Inc.,  was  honored with the Jerome Alpern Award.  This year's program featured a special video  about the School narrated by Dean Harry Katz, "ILR:  A New World of Work." Another feature was Jerry Alpern '49, patriarch of the ILR Family and always a 'special' guest, who offered  the introduction of King-Shaw to  assembled guests. As always, ILR's closest friends made the event possible through donations and table sponsorships. Stay tuned.
