Omar Manky, MS/PhD
Omar Manky grew up in Lima and graduated with a B.A in Sociology from the Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). He is currently a PhD student in the Department of International and Comparative Labor at Cornell University’s ILR School. He has done research and teaching on subjects related to sociology of organizations and sociology of labor. Although most of his work has been done at the Catholic University, he also worked at the Peruvian Ministry of Employment and Labor and the International Labour Organization, conducting research about labor disputes.
Omar’s current research interests include the relationship between the Labor and the Environmental Movements; the effects of Chinese investments in Latin American Labor Movement; and the historical dynamics of labor conflicts in the Andean region.
