Research

Several government agencies, including the SSA, the Department of Education, and the Department of Health and Human Services, are sponsoring research efforts to better understand the factors that promote employment and economic independence among people with disabilities. Many of these efforts are examining the interaction of work with one or more of the programs described above. The major initiatives include the following:

  • National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers
  • SSA research, demonstration, and projects
  • CMS demonstrations
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
