Welcome!
Thank you for taking the time
to learn more about the policies and programs that affect those among us
who live with disabilities, those who employ them, and those who dedicate
themselves to improving their treatment and status.
This online policy primer summarizes
the wide range of Federal programs and policies that influence the employment of people with disabilities, with
a specific focus on the eligibility rules of those programs and how those rules affect the decisions of people with
disabilities.
This policy primer encompasses five sections as follows: legislation,
agencies, government programs, tax policies, and research. There is also a
"frequently asked questions" function in the lower left hand corner of each page,
where you may ask us your questions.
Throughout the tutorial, you may see footnote markers such as this: [1].
These markers may be clicked upon for footnotes to the topic covered in that paragraph. Please note that you
will have to have JavaScript enabled to view the footnotes.
If you are using a screen-reader program, such as the
WeMedia Talking Browser,
JAWS, SynthaVoice, or outSPOKEN, you will find that this site is completely accessible and designed to maximize
your learning experience. Thank you!
